Showing Symptoms Of Adult TMJ? The Best Way To Get Treatment

Dentist Blog

If you have started to develop a lot of neck pain and soreness but you weren't in an accident and you don't recall getting injured, you'll want to talk with a few different health professionals to see what the problem is. If the problem comes and goes, and it's starting to prevent you from exercising, working, or doing the things that you love, you don't want to put off getting help.

There are a lot of potential problems with your posture, dental health, and daily habits that could be causing this pain and sensitivity. Make appointments with the following professionals to see if you can get some answers and some relief to the struggles you're dealing with.

Dentist

If you are grinding your teeth throughout the night, or your jaw is out of alignment, the neck soreness you have may be from an orthodontic problem. Make a dentist appointment to see if you are grinding your teeth, if your wisdom teeth are pushing into your jaw or causing the pain in your neck, or to see if there are other dental concerns associated with the tenderness and pain. Straining of the teeth can cause you to clench the muscles in your face and neck and lead to pain, headaches and vision sensitivity.

Chiropractor

If something has shifted out of line throughout your skeletal structure you could be feeling a great deal of pain throughout the neck, and a chiropractor can help realign the skeletal structure to give you relief from the pain. They can do some x-rays to see what is out of line, or they can feel if something in the neck is getting pinched.

Massage Therapist

Massaging the tight muscles in the neck and in the face and back can help to sooth the pain, and prevent injuries from having tight muscles. Make a massage therapy appointment with your chiropractic appointment if you can in the same office, so you can get both treatments for pain relief at the same time. Acupressure from the massage therapist may also be a great option to try.

Talk with these professionals about what other things you can do to help prevent further straining in your neck, and that could cause the tissues to be sore. If you're not using ergonomic furniture throughout the day, you have a poor quality mattress or your pillows are bad, these are other culprits that could be adding or causing your neck problems. Think Twice Before Rationing That Halloween Candy

Halloween is a holiday that my children love, and telling them they can't go door-to-door collecting candy would break their hearts. This led me to allowing them to collect candy on the holiday, then rationing it out to them every day instead of letting them gobble it up in just a few days. I always thought this was better for them, but my dentist told me this could be the reason why their February dental check-ups were always their worst ones. Daily candy consumption was taking a toll on their teeth. I started a new tradition of letting them indulge for two days, then giving them the option to swap the rest with me in exchange for a new toy. They never pass on the opportunity for a new toy. I created this blog to encourage other parents find similar tactics to keep their children's teeth healthy after Halloween.
